Carignano del Sulcis Doc, made by the new winemakers of Carloforte, Vigna Du Bertin
Vineyards in the Carloforte countryside, in Valacca. The vineyard is trained on espalier with spurred cordon pruning, the clayey soil has a high discheletro percentage. The exposure of the land is to the south-east and the altitude is about 20 meters. s.l.m.
YIELD - 70 ql / ha
GRAPE - 100% Carignano
CLIMATE - Mediterranean, with relatively mild winters. Summers are hot and dry, characterized by considerable north-westerly wind.
HARVEST - Manual harvest between late September and the first days of October. The grapes are placed in boxes and taken directly to the cellar.
VINIFICATION - The grapes, once de-stemmed and crushed, are left to macerate in cold for 2 - 3 days in stainless steel tanks, after this phase with the increase in temperature starts the fermentation that will last around 12-15 days at temperatures chevanno from 25 to 30 ° C, During this period the frequent pumping over favors the passage in the must of the noble tannins of which the Carignano is particularly gifted. Once the alcoholic fermentation is complete and then the malolactic fermentation, the wine is decanted in steel tanks for a period of 8 - 10 months. Subsequently a brief refinement in the bottle allows an early development of the bouquet.
EVOLUTION - Maturation takes place for a few months in steel tanks; refines further in the bottle.
FEATURES
Color: intense ruby red with violet reflections.
Smell: Intense fruity notes of blackberries, blueberries, Mediterranean scrub.
Taste: warm, with a good acid-tannic balance, good structure and gustatory persistence.

ALCOHOLIC CONTENT - Alcohol 13.5% Vol
CURIOSITY - The name Bertin derives from the old owner of the countryside where the vineyard is now (Bartolomeo, known as Bertino, who is called Bertin in the Carloforte dialect)
