Mirto Ricetta Storica is a journey through the history of Sardinia. Each small sip is a step between the bushes of Mediterranean scrub, towards cliffs overlooking the sea, with sensations in the mouth that take your breath away.
Type: Sardinian Myrtle liqueur.
Format: 70 cl.
Alcohol content: 30% Vol.
Appearance: intense dark brown color with violet and luminous reflections.
Aroma: the nose expresses multiple aromas, in addition to intense myrtle you can feel other aromas of Mediterranean scrub, aromatic herbs, bay leaves, sage and plums in jam.
Taste: when tasted all these smells blend in a very elegant and enveloping myrtle embrace that masters the mouth, subdued by the vegetal notes, in a very refined bitter-sweet arm wrestling, which leads to a finish rightly dry and rich in Mediterranean returns.
Curiosity
As with all popular traditions, the origins of this product are very ancient. The liqueur obtained only from berries, or from berries and leaves, is part of the popular tradition of Sardinia, in particular the red quality. Various sources trace the origins of this liqueur to the popular tradition of the nineteenth century. Families produced myrtle from the hydroalcoholic maceration of ripe berries. A mixture of brandy and water was used for the maceration. At the end of the maceration period, sugar or honey was added to the extract to sweeten it. The product was intended for self-consumption. In recent times and with the law decree n. 173 of 1998, the Mirto di Sardegna has been included in the official list of Traditional Products. The Silvio Carta company has decided to produce a Mirto without taking into account production costs but only quality. The historical recipe is simple: good ingredients and in the right quantity, a lot of patience and a lot of passion and that's it, "Mirto Silvio Carta - Historical recipe" a unique and overwhelming product that not trying it would be a shame. The best way to appreciate it is to consume it frozen, poured from bottles kept in the freezer.
