Aranginu from Oristano is a bakery that produces hand-made typical Sardinian bread: Spianada. A soft, round bread, typical from Nuoro, precisely from Tonara, where it can be served during seasonal jobs in the countryside and mountainside, such as the harvest and shearing.
Its preparation involves a mixture of durum wheat and white flour (simula and poddine), water, salt and yeast.
Spianada made for the great occasions was enriched with ornaments cut with a toothed wheel (arrodanza) or with fine decorations imprinted with a special stamp made of wood or metal, said pintapane or pintadera.
