Description

Millant’anni - Magnum - Murales

Millant'anni from Cantina Murales represents one of the finest expressions of Gallura's wine production, conceived to combine the richness of the territory with an elegant style of international appeal. This impressive Sardinian red wine originates from hillside vineyards in the municipality of Olbia, at an altitude of 80 metres above sea level, with a favourable South and South-West exposure. The vineyards are managed at a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare using a spur-pruned cordon training system, a choice designed to ensure low yields and promote exceptional sugar and polyphenol concentration in the grapes. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at the end of October, with strict selection of the finest fruit that has reached perfect phenolic ripeness on the vine.

The cellar protocol respects the richness of the raw material, with the must fermented at a constant controlled temperature of 18°C to preserve the integrity of the aromas. The subsequent meticulous ageing process involves 12 months in oak barriques. During this period, the wine softens its original exuberance and enriches its sensory profile with elegant tertiary nuances, perfectly integrating its generous 15% alcohol content. Before being released onto the market, the wine undergoes an essential 6-month bottle stabilisation period in the estate's cellars, a crucial stage for consolidating its balance and enhancing the overall quality of this exclusive production of just 4,500 bottles.

An intriguing feature of this label lies in its name, Millant'anni, an evocative term that recalls Sardinia's millenary history and the brand's ambition to create a sincere wine capable of standing the test of time and confirming its value in the years following the harvest. Murales' style is also expressed through refined and elegant packaging designed to emphasise the artisanal nature of the production. The remarkable extract content of 34 g/litre, combined with its balanced acidity, places this bottle among the island's most structured and age-worthy red wines for ageing.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour, dense and impenetrable. The nose releases a broad and sumptuous bouquet rich in aromas of blackberry jam, dried plum and sour cherry, accompanied by complex notes of dark cocoa, coffee, liquorice, cinnamon and black pepper. On the palate, the entry is warm, soft and velvety, characterised by intense aromatic persistence, beautifully polished tannins and a savoury, clean finish. At the table, it reaches its full potential with dishes based on game, wild boar, braised meats, richly flavoured and spiced red meats, as well as aged hard cheeses and blue cheeses.
