Description

Guttiau Mediterraneo - Su Guttiau

Immerse yourself in the history and passion behind Su Guttiau's Guttiau Mediterraneo Bread, produced in Macomer (NU), in the heart of Sardinia's food-producing region. This product is not simply a snack, but a story of tradition transformed into a modern and aromatic delight. Its origins lie in the centuries-old pastoral practice of dressing pane carasau, when it was too dry or broken, with a drizzle of olive oil and salt, giving rise to what we now know as "Guttiau" ("drizzled"). Su Guttiau has elevated this tradition into a true gastronomic art, making it accessible to contemporary tastes through a range of flavours that evoke the typical tastes of the region.

The secret behind the exceptional crispiness of Guttiau Mediterraneo lies in the use of high-quality remilled durum wheat semolina, a key ingredient that guarantees the crisp, delicate texture and authentic flavour of Sardinian bread. The production process is rigorous and focused on genuineness: after being kneaded and subjected to the first baking typical of pane carasau, the dough is skilfully rolled into extremely thin sheets. The crucial stage that sets it apart is the subsequent seasoning. The sheets are generously coated with high-oleic sunflower oil and the aromatic blend that defines its character: a magical combination of flavours reminiscent of vegetable gardens and the coast, thanks to the skilful use of tomato and basil. The result is a pleasant, non-overpowering aroma that perfectly balances the wheat base. This is followed by controlled toasting or frying, expertly carried out to achieve maximum lightness and the unique crispiness that makes this snack such a pleasure for the palate. Meticulous attention at every stage ensures that the finished product is a perfect combination of the quality of Sardinian raw materials and the freshness of its aromas.

The Mediterranean variety is one of the company's most versatile offerings, ideal for enhancing the table at any time. Its versatility makes it perfect to enjoy on its own, bringing out its herbaceous and slightly tangy notes, or paired with typical Sardinian products such as Ricotta Mustia or soft cheeses. It also pairs wonderfully with cold soups, legume veloutés, or as a base for fish tartare or summer bruschetta. Su Guttiau's choice to use locally sourced durum wheat and simple, high-quality ingredients – remilled semolina, sunflower oil, salt, yeast and natural flavourings – reflects the company's commitment to a product that excels in every respect. This snack is therefore an expression of the island's gastronomic culture projected into the future, offering a crispy alternative to classic industrial baked goods. Its easily recognisable bag invites sharing and good cheer.
