Malloreddus - Corona - Sardinian food

Features:

They are called Macarrones in  campidanese dialect, cravaos in Nuoro and ciccionis in Sassari. They are prepared with durum wheat and lukewarm salt water. They have the form of a thin stick, cut in small touches, which takes the form of an oval shell, rolled to the bottom of a basket said ciuliri. In the Sardinian tradition, the dough of malloreddus was flavored with saffron.

In today's Sardinian market, there are also versions with tomato sauce and spinach. It's a type of pasta that by its simplicity lends itself well to be accompanied with various condiments.

Among the traditional courses, the most famous is "Is Malloreddus campidanese", topped with Sardinian sausage, cut into pieces, a good tomato sauce and grated pecorino cheese.
